Re: Chapter Scholarship Program
The Phoenix Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, Inc.,
International Organization of Women Pilots is pleased to present
our Pilot Scholarship Program
The purpose of the Ninety-Nines is to promote women in aviation and support them in reaching their aviation goals, to outreach to women pilots in the metropolitan Phoenix area, and to introduce them to the Ninety-Nines, Inc. The Phoenix Chapter was chartered December 1, 1949. Our International membership numbers over 6500+ and includes astronauts, professional airline and corporate pilots, flight instructors, military pilots, and those who simply fly for the sheer pleasure of flying.
The Phoenix Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, Inc. is committed to helping women achieve the goal of flight. We understand how difficult it can be to finance flight training. To that end, we have established a scholarship fund to aid women who are interested in the pursuit of a pilot certificate but need a financial boost to finish their training. We will award two (2) $2000 scholarships per calendar year to female student pilots:
1) Private Pilot Scholarship
2) Advanced Rating Scholarship.
The Phoenix Chapter wishes to announce that our Solo Incentive Award will not be offered again. The requirements appeared to be too confusing and, perhaps, too restrictive. Therefore, we are raising the Private Pilot and Advance Rating Scholarships to $2000 each, as stated above.
The attached fact sheet denotes the criteria necessary to apply for these scholarships. The official application is also attached. The postmark deadline for the application packet is 1 November. All applications postmarked after that date or incomplete packets will not be considered.
The Ninety-Nines, Inc. offers a membership to student pilots called Future Women Pilots. We would encourage the private pilot scholarship winner to join the Ninety-Nines as a FWP. As a further incentive, once the recipient has completed her training and received her Private Certificate, the chapter will pay for her first year's membership at the chapter level. This complimentary Phoenix Chapter membership will be offered to the advanced rating scholarship winner also.
If after reading the fact sheet and the application, you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 623-872-1877 (eves.) or email me at deezapilot@cox.net or at the chapter email address: phoenix99s@yahoo.com.
