Phoenix 99s Scholarship Application Fact Sheet

 

General Applicant Criteria:

 

1. U.S. citizen and resident of the State of Arizona

2. Female, at least 17 years of age

3. Proficient in English

4. Agrees to complete certificate within one (1) year of receipt of scholarship

 

 

The Private Pilot Scholarship

 

The $2000 Phoenix 99s Private Pilot Scholarship shall be used to finish the Private Pilot Certificate.

 

Private Pilot Applicant Criteria & Required Materials:

 

1. Must have completed solo flight by the scholarship application deadline.

2. Must have passed the Private Pilot Written Exam and submitted a copy of test results by the Nov. 1st deadline.

3. Must submit a copy of the current flight physical.

 

 

The Advanced Rating Scholarship

 

The $2000 Phoenix 99s Advanced Rating Scholarship shall be used to complete flight training for an additional rating to the Private Pilot Certificate.

 

Advanced Rating Applicant Criteria & required materials:

 

1.  Must have passed the Written Exam for the rating for which the scholarship funds would cover, copy of results     required

    2. The advanced ratings already held by the applicant

    3. Copy of front and back of pilot’s license

    4. Copy of current flight physical

 

 

Application Package in addition to required materials above for each scholarship:

 

Official application form specifying which scholarship, the specific advanced rating sought

 

Two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from someone knowledgeable about your aviation interests and/or accomplishments.

 

Statement establishing financial need/budget detailing anticipated expenses for the rating (signed by flight school and/or instructor; anticipated funding; any special circumstances regarding financial need.

 

500 word essay, covering your career, and general goals; your interest in aviation; how you plan to contribute to the Ninety-Nines and the community in general; any special qualifications you may have with regard to aviation; your participation in aviation activities; how this scholarship will help you achieve your goals

Pilot Scholarship Program

Award Criteria:

Applicant's commitment to aviation

Financial need

Essay

Personal Interview

Letters of recommendation

Ability to achieve goals

 

Terms:

 

1. The scholarships will be paid directly to the flight school and/or independent flight instructor conducting the training. Receipts showing hours flown and signed by both student and instructor must be submitted before funds are disbursed.

 

2. Recipients who successfully complete their ratings will receive a one-year's membership in the Phoenix chapter.

3. Any unused monies will revert to the Phoenix Chapter Scholarship Fund.

 

Application packet postmark deadline is November 1st.

 

The scholarship will be announced February 1st and awarded at the February chapter meeting.
